The Story

Hey everyone I'm Kate Lairson, Mom of two teenage boys, beach bum and Chef. As a little girl I fondly remember standing on chairs just to reach the stove. Being a chef is deeply instilled in my soul, with a passion you can feel and taste in my dishes. It simply makes my heart happy! Black Bird Local's menu is inspired by the people and places I love most. Living in South Jersey it's not hard to create a seasonal menu inspired by everything our Garden State has to offer. I try to live simply, eat seasonally, organically and cook with whole foods, all while being eco-friendly and cautious of the carbon footprint we leave behind. My hope is to inspire a love for amazing locally sourced food, a sense of community, as well as the  courage to try something new!

Small batch means baking by hand, fresh, daily Farm to Fork menu items.  Each and every recipe is uniquely our own. We believe in the power of real, good food; and that means baking in season, sourcing locally and  following Fair-Trade, Eco-friendly and Organic practices. Fully licensed and insured.
